There is a strong online community of paddlers in the Pacific Northwest. Via email and online mailing lists, paddlers are able to discuss local river conditions, ask general or detailed questions, arrange trips, and buy, sell, and find gear.

OKCC Online Mailing List

The OKCC has an online mailing list where OKCC members can learn about club trips and events, river hazards, items for sale, and more. Members, fill out the form below to join:

Other Mailing Lists

The white-water list provides a forum for discussing rivers--river running, river conservation, river access, river gear--anything related to paddle sports. The white-water list is maintained by the OSU Computer Science Department on the majordomo server. This automated system forwards a message sent to the white-water list to everyone on the list.

To join, send an email with no subject to majordomo@peak.org.
In the body of the text type:

subscribe white-water <your email address>
(ex: subscribe white-water kayaker@aol.com)

To send a message to everyone on the white-water list, send your message to white-water@peak.org.

Washington has a similar mailing list that caters to (you guessed it!) Washington paddlers.

To join, send an email with no subject to listproc@u.washington.edu.

In the body of the text type:

subscribe ww-rivers <your name>
(ex: subscribe ww-rivers Joe Kayaker)

To send a message to everyone on the list, send your message to ww-rivers@u.washington.edu

Portland kayakers can also connect through PDXkayaker.

In addition to these local lists, the rec.boats.paddle newsgroup serves the entire nation as a place to gather and exchange information.
