DESCRIPTION:Come join us for a free first aid course led by a board certified Nurse Practitioner in ER medicine. We will be in a room at the North Clackamas Aquatic center and space is limited\, so please "purchase" a free ticket to reserve your spot. Open to OKCC members only \nWe will cover: \n\nBasic injury assessment: recognizing serious injuries\, learning what to look for beyond the obvious.\nBleeding control: pressure dressings\, wound packing\, QuickClot and tourniquets.\nWound care: cleaning\, assessment and field treatment.\nFinger and shoulder dislocation assessment: when is it appropriate to attempt relocation? When is it not?\nDecision making in the field: Keep paddling? Head to Urgent care? the ER? Is emergency evacuation needed?\nBasic discussion of legality in field medicine.\n\nPlease note\, this is not a CPR recertification course or swiftwater rescue course. This is however an excellent opportunity for club members to learn or brush up on some very important skills. \nPS we know it's early\, coffee and donuts will be supplied!
