Free 1st Aid Class

Come join us for a free first aid course led by a board certified Nurse Practitioner in ER medicine. We will be in a room at the North Clackamas Aquatic center and space is limited, so please "purchase" a free ticket to reserve your spot. Open to OKCC members only

We will cover:

• Basic injury assessment: recognizing serious injuries, learning what to look for beyond the obvious.
• Bleeding control: pressure dressings, wound packing, QuickClot and tourniquets.
• Wound care: cleaning, assessment and field treatment.
• Finger and shoulder dislocation assessment: when is it appropriate to attempt relocation? When is it not?
• Decision making in the field: Keep paddling? Head to Urgent care? the ER? Is emergency evacuation needed?
• Basic discussion of legality in field medicine.

Please note, this is not a CPR recertification course or swiftwater rescue course. This is however an excellent opportunity for club members to learn or brush up on some very important skills.
